Review of The Awful Truth (1937) by Joe S — 13 Aug 2011
An excellent screwball comedy in which a headstrong married couple begin divorce proceedings, only to being to sabotage each other in their love lives.
Cary Grant and Irene Dunne are amazing. Their facial expression when embarrassed or uncomfortable leaves you in stitches. They have such excellent dialogue and chemistry, especially when with the subtext of their bickering.
Ralph Bellamy also hams it up as a Oklahoma momma's boy who attempts to date Irene Dunne's character.
A very heartwarming and hilarious comedy which showcased some unmatched comedic talent.
