Review of The Awakening (2011) by Berni E — 05 Dec 2015
The Awakening mostly left me?drowsy. The narrative has moments, but the horror trope of a skeptic being proved wrong is more than a bit tired, while the scares are pretty weak. Much like the very similar ?The Others?, it has a nicely dated look, but the characters and subtly sharp humor than penetrate that underrated film?s melodrama is sorely lacking here.
Iceberg slow and completely un-haunting.
