It's technically magnificent .Leo is outstanding as is Cate. The later scenes between Alda and DiCaprio are among the finest frames Scorsese has shot. However, the script bounces around in it's own world of narrative and it does not work.
There's just too much to work with to make this anymore than a great technical achievement.
