Review of The Aviator (2004) by Patrick B — 08 Oct 2011
Breathtaking, and fascinating. The Aviator is a triumphant film experience. This film shows the life of the brilliant, billionaire, psychotic film maker and aviator Howard Hughes. Leonardo DiCaprio gives the best performance of his career as the film maker struggling with a career in revolutionizing aircraft along with his growing obsessive compulsive disorder and other mad issues he may have.
DiCaprio is just mesmerizing in this performance that no doubt should have won him an Oscar but earned him a Golden Globe. This film features some great set locations, dialouge, performances and an awesome true story.
Hughes innovated the movie industry with his perfectionist mind that may be another cause to his insanity. This perfectionist mind however also brought to life film classics such as Scarface and Hell's Angels, a huge part in the film.
Another masterfully done motion picture from the master director Martin Scorsese. Scorsese's direction in this film is pure genius and it is a wonder how he was yet again snubbed by the academy.
