Review of The Aviator (2004) by Kim B — 21 Oct 2011
Another emotionally disturbing movie that I love! lol I think DiCaprio does really good here and so does Blanchett. One of those movies you can watch again. It had great directing and visuals as well and was really interesting.
You can tell they respected Hughes with the attention to detail. It was sad to see someone fall so badly and no one seemed to help him despite all the people working for him. I liked how this shows that OCD and anxiety can overcome anyone if you don't deal with it.
Just proves money, success, and fame doesn't buy happiness. I really like Blanchett's line about eccentric people and I think it's true. Sometimes the most creative visionaries can be haunted by themselves and let their own imaginations get the best of them.
He was always trying to soar to the next big height in life, sometimes being very reckless and it seemed like he never took the time to enjoy what he had. Makes me want to see Hell's Angels. There just isn't enough time to show the rest of his life, but the rest of his life is just as interesting.
