Review of The Aviator (2004) by Daphne E — 14 May 2012
Much of this film is about Hollywood history. I think many people in the audience are lost to that fact. If you've never seen a Katharine Hepburn or Ava Gardner movie, you have no right to critique this film. The portrayal of the Hollywood golden years is outstanding with so many great performances!
DiCaprio does a great job as Howard Hughes. I can barely watch another movie with DiCaprio without thinking about this one. Truly one of his best performances ever! The complete immersion in the history of Hughes lifestyle, struggles and accomplishments is truly inspiring and mesmerizing as well as tragic and eye-opening. I loved nearly every minute of this film!
