This is an exciting, ravishing, wonderful biopic thats carried on the shoulders of an excellent leonardo dicaprio performance. its a sprawling film, rolling at a meaty 170 mins, and it does plod from time to time, but this is all forgiven in favour of the grand character study that it offers viewers.
its never boring either, which is a testament to dicaprios performance and to scorseses skill of keeping the audience interested in the story and this character. great rewatchability too. ive seen it over 5 times since 2004 and its always enthralling.
