Review of The Aviator (2004) by Alex M — 08 Apr 2013
Its a technically well made film with lots of ambition from its lead, Leo, but all in all, it was a huge miss for me. I didn't care for anyone, and this movie made Howard Hughes more of a reclusive freak than a legend or genius.
Martin Scorcese has a flair for setting the scene and getting the actors in and out with style, but I felt his weakness here was the dialogue and plot. I was quite bored alot of the time and it just felt like one big newsreel rather than a movie.
No scene really stood out and it all flashed by, like I said, a big montage/newsreel. And did I mention it was FREAKING LONG at nearly 3 hours!!!
