The Aviator isn't considered one of Martin Scorsese's best movies, but then again it is competing with greats such as Taxi Driver and The Departed. The Aviator has great performances from its stellar cast, especially Leonardo DiCaprio.
Audience members don't realize how difficult it is for an actor to play a character that progressively goes insane well; Leonardo DiCaprio does it about as good as anyone can. The Aviator is a true masterpiece.
