Review of The Aviator (2004) by Anne E — 17 Nov 2014
Madman? Once again, this is a really bad review from someone who either did not watch this film, or who has no understanding of mental health conditions.
Howard had OCD and OCD'ers are not mad. This review would have stopped me from buying this film which is essential viewing for those with OCD and their loved ones. I am so glad I did not read it.
I watched 'The Aviator' yesterday. Brilliant acting I really liked Howard Hughes. He was incredibly brave and he won that case despite being disabled by his OCD and clearly targeted by the powers that be in attempt to make him ill... shocking! It was so interesting to see what triggered the attacks: bullying, betrayal and people taking advantage of his openness. This inability to keep quiet is an interesting characteristic in some with OCD. I did not know he had tics too. I had always been afraid since I read about Hughes in the 70s when my OCD was just contamination (without Pure O) - but the film showed the other side of OCD and what we can achieve despite OCD.
