Review of The Aviator (2004) by Paul J — 12 Jul 2015
The Aviator is an interesting and well made movie. The acting by DiCaprio and Blanchett is excellent. The development of Howard Hughes throughout the movie is very well done, as the movie is mainly a character study.
The production design, directing, and writing are all quite good. The way the movie was shot, designed, and feels is really effective. The length of this movie is far too long however, and the story sometimes drifts to unimportant plot details that don't always result in satisfying resolutions.
It also isn't as compelling as I would have hoped from acclaimed director Martin Scorsese. This is still a great film though, and I would recommend it. The Aviator gets 4/5 stars (A-).
