Review of The Avengers (2012) by Clint B — 30 Apr 2015

I grade summer blockbusters on a curve. All I ask of summer movies is they be entertaining I'll forgive lack of plot or character development because I don't expect it from these movies; that's what Oscar season is for.

On the road to this movie there has been ups and downs. "Iron Man" and "The Incredible Hulk" being ups and "Thor" and "Captain America" in my opinion (as a non comic book reader) being downs; with "Iron Man 2" being in the middle as being just ok.

This movie is so much fun to watch that I can forgive Marvel for making me sit thru Thor and Capt America last summer. You can tell a lot of love went into making this film which is good. Had it been approached in any other way this could have been an epic disaster. But as it stands its an excellent way to kick off the summer and the prospect of a follow up Avengers film excites me, instead of just causing me to roll my eyes and groan.
