What a terrible mess this film ended up being. You watch with a sense of morbid fascination, confused at how it could have gone so wrong. The casting was good, but somewhere along the way the direction and editing lost sight of what The Avengers was all about.
This is what happens when a British institution is adapted by the American industry.
