Review of The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016) by Paul B — 02 Apr 2017
Brian Cox (not the professor) and Emile Hirsch play a father and son who work in a mortuary and whilst working late one night are asked to perform an urgent autopsy on a young girl who has died in mysterious circumstances.
As you would expect from a film with autopsy in the title this is obviously going to be quite visceral but this also adds scares into the mix to add to the gore. For me, the jump scares were quite obvious and I think the film revels in its exploitation of the audience.
The film has in interesting reveal but the film falls down when it deteriorates into cliched horror territory in the middle.
