Review of The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016) by Bill M — 29 Jun 2017
The Autopsy Of Jane Doe is a brilliantly crafted and suspenseful mix of forensic procedural and supernatural horror. This story of a father son mortician team (Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch, both great) trapped in their morgue with a creepy, mysterious girls corpse that is full of secrets, whilst a thunderstorm rages outside and weird shit goes down around them, is a genuinely gripping and atmospheric horror story that plays out with a carefully built, quietly unnerving sense of mounting dread.
it falls apart a bit in the final third if I am honest, become a bit confused and slapdash, but up until then is terrific entertainment for those hungry for a strong, well made, and smart horror movie.
Be warned though, only the strong of stomach need apply, as the autopsy scenes are truly graphic and hard to watch, and go on for the whole movie.
