The immaculate and unblemished body of a young woman was discovered in the scene of a multiple homicide and sent to the mortuary run by the father and son team of Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch for an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death - and so begins rather promisingly this suspenseful and intriguing film.

Cox and Hirsch are always watchable and their performances are convincing. The scenes of the autopsy are horrific and unsettling enough on their own and certainly not for the squeamish. If only the film had a bit more conviction and not rely so much on jump scares and loud audio effects to goose their audience, it might have delivered what the captivating narrative promises to do.

Instead, it falls back into a more conventional horror film halfway through, with an ending that somewhat unravels and feels less convincing than the build-up leading to it. A solid effort nevertheless but it doesn't quite live up to those expectations.
