Review of The Astronaut's Wife (1999) by Jessie K — 23 Dec 2007
The curious omission this film featured was how it de-characterized the alien life-form supposedly inside Johnny Depp's astronaut. We never see it enter, escape or come to life nor do we witness the personality of Depp's character BEFORE he goes up into space.
So what we have instead is a Depp growing increasingly unstable and Charlize Theron increasingly scared. Boo-hoo. There isn't anything compelling about people underdeveloped especially after the audience is supposed to be engaged with the non-sense that's in the movie.
There is a lack of suspense and a lack of heart just like the insides Depp body that are mistakenly omitted.
