Review of The Astronaut's Wife (1999) by Harriet C — 24 Mar 2008
Charlize Theron's part is certainly a hard character to play. She thinks that her husband is some alien from outerspace and her belief is confimed thru different events. Since she's quite determined starting from the begining, there is not much deveopment in the film, consequently, not much to see.
Theron tried to be confused and scared, but the lack of action in the story itself makes it difficult for an actor to play, and hard for audience to remain interested. Depp's character is more interesting, though.
The ambiguity of the character is well written and well played.
