Review of The Astronaut's Wife (1999) by Truerock — 24 May 2023
I just went back and watched chapter 12 of this movie where Joe Morton as Sherman Reese (NASA Representative) meets Charlize Theron as Jillian Armacost in a baby store. To me, this is an amazing example of acting, writing and directing being in perfect alignment. I love that scene. Joe Morton is brilliant.
This movie has not received good reviews. I think if you know going in that there is a lot of things having to do with depression and unhappiness it might seem to make this film worthwhile.
So, if it is viewed knowing that as a psychological drama it might seem more interesting.
But, it lacks things like excitement and happiness that make a plot more fun.
Not every movie needs to be fun and exciting. There are other things that are interesting from a different perspective.
