This movie woozy. Extremely thin plot - so, a farmer wants to go into space....he seems to care more about this than he does his loved ones....and that about does it. The rest is ridiculous cliche small-town cheese & a handful of characters with no dimension that make up "the family".
The government "baddies" are cartoonish overdone stereotypes, and with lines like "Without the Rocket, we're just a dysfunctional family!" one could imagine how unpleasant The Astronaut Farmer is.
..and therefore would find no reason to sit through it.
