Review of The Assassination of Richard Nixon (2004) by Sean C — 28 May 2005
The poppa gives this movie 8.5 tomatoes. 7.5 tomatoes for the movie itself and 9.5 tomatoes for the acting. The movie is not the most complicated movie in terms of its plot but the intricate mind of the lead character (Sean Penn) makes up for any dullness in plot. Don Cheadle (Hotel Rwanda) co-stars in this movie as well and he is also excellent. However Sean Penn steals the show here, his performance is simply off the meter. I never saw this side of his acting ability and it was quite amazing to see just how much range this guy has. .
If you liked taxi driver (Robert Deniro) you will most certainly enjoy this film. The movie is based on a true story of a man who is truly a prisoner in his own mind and just can not seem to escape the eventual demise of himself. I have known people in the past who truly remind me of this character so it really struck a nerve with me. It was quite an interesting film overall. I 100% recommend renting this movie. Hope you enjoyed the poppas review from the Garden. Ketchup Soon, the Poppa!.
