Wow. For me, this is a near-perfect film. The cinematography and score are both incredibly beautiful. The whole time I was watching this I was thinking, "Man, this is like a Terrance Malik film...
Only better!" Brad Pitt gives a more accurate portrayal of Jesse James as a vicious bandit rather than the robin-hood folk hero. However, the real star here is Casey Affleck, who plays Robert Ford.
The beauty of this movie is that no matter how unlikable or ruthless each character is, the director, Andrew Dominik, is still able to show their human side. Contrary to what many think, I consider the pacing to be very well-done.
The cherry on top is the narration!
