Review of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) by Steve B — 18 Jun 2011
A haunting and exciting film that features some of the best performances I have ever seen. This is a character driven movie and the actors play their characters to perfection. I think that we are meant to feel the most sympathy for Jesse and Brad Pitt does an incredible job of making us feel for him.
Casey Affleck can be one of the best in the business, his portrayal of a creepy weasel was haunting and it was almost like watching Anakin Skywalker become Darth Vader except you know more interesting.
The atmosphere really creates the movie, I felt like I was in the movie and the music is also very good at setting the atmosphere. The movie has great characters, Great Acting, and great music, It has everything it needs to be great and it is without a doubt a masterpiece and an incredibly original western, I loved it and it is one that I could watch again.
Sam Rockwell is also very good.
