Review of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) by Adam B — 15 Jan 2013
I found the first half or so really dull and boring, theres an introduction to a load of characters, but to be honest the one we were meant to be grabbed by - Robert Ford, I found a strange little suck up and I have no idea why someone of Jesse's stature would befriend him, it's not like he needed more of an ego boost.
It does improve though, theres a point where Jesse James is messing with the other characters and it's impossible to know what he's going to do next. The build up to the proposed Bank Robbery is also quite tense, again because of all the mind games from Jesse James.
Eventually it got more interesting and it was good that it wasn't just a film devoted to showing how wonderful Jesse James was but I personally found it way too slow paced and it took too long for me to find any of the characters even remotely interesting.
