Review of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) by Ross P — 06 Aug 2013
It's based on a true story that I know very little about so whether it is accurate is unclear to me. Nevertheless it is told in such a graceful way: the characters are profusely written and performed with copious depth, the tone is atmospheric and remindful of old Westerns, and its design is stylish.
Dominik asks us to question the morality of these men. We must ponder the cowardice of not only the crime but people's response to it. It's a great modern Western story, entertainingly told but its moral is hard to decipher.
