Review of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) by Justin M — 03 Dec 2010
Had to wait 7 years to see Andrew Dominik's follow up to his first film Chopper. Jesse James is a beautiful film with one of the longest titles I have ever seen. It does tend to drag in the middle but as a whole is very satisfying.
Cassey Affleck is brilliant as Robert Ford and Brad Pitt also puts in a great performance. Cinematography is sublime and reminds me of Days of Heaven, with its wide open vistas and shots of pure poetry.
Hopefully it gets released as a longer director's cut one day.
