Review of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) by Jason S — 10 Jan 2011
Absolutely staggering in its storyline and production. If you can't appreciate a sophisticated "thinkers" film, don't bother. I barely felt the nearly 3 hour duration of this film. It harks back to the old American film style where the audience got to sit back and watch a story develop slowly and deliberately.
Think of Easy Rider or Taxi Driver and how much of the film was just chilling and checking it out... let Andrew Dominik carry you and tell you this epic tale.
