Review of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) by Dan D — 16 Apr 2011
Some of the most beautiful cinematography I've seen (except for the ugly blurred shots) and a few truly great scenes, but that's about it. Brad Pitt is not Jesse James, he is Brad Pitt. Casey Affleck is decent but extremely dry, and he doesn't seem to progress much more than going from a Jesse fan to a Jesse hater.
Sam Rockwell was probably the most dynamic character in the film. Also, the narrator is still annoying to me.
