Review of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) by David B — 15 Mar 2016
Incredible film given a huge potency by the camera of roger deakins. Affleck is excellent in a very complex role and pitt is very good too. It is cinema at its finest - almost every shot is imbued with solemnity and melancholy and as a whole it achieves a hypnotic and sensual quality far above almost anything else I can think of - with the exception of There Will Be Blood.
