Review of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) by J.j.s.p. W — 31 May 2010
Had the potential to be a breakthrough success that would bring the Western back into cinematic fashion. The directing and cinematography are excellent. Sets and dialogue are realistic, believable. But where this film fails is the extremely prolonged storyline.
What it accomplishes in its 2 hours and 40 minutes could easily be condensed into a more succinct, easier-to-follow 1 hour and 45 minutes.
