The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is a story of hero worship, regret, remorse, betrayal & the internal struggle of the beaten protagonists .
Unlike a typical gun slinging western movie it does not have any action sequence, no shootouts can be found it.
2hr 40 mins long & it drags too much - hence is not for instant gratification, but the longs hours are laden with some really brilliant artistic scenes - specially the murder of Jesse James, robbing of the Glendale train, Bob's description of what is common between him & Jesse & Show in which Bob loses control.
It has an excellent score which conveys the tiredness of the lead actors & fits the tone for the most of the scenes.Great cinematography & great performance by Casey Affleck & Brad Pitt.
Assassination of Jesse James is a beautiful movie with memorable scenes, an extraordinary work of art. If you appreciate intensively artistic movies , then it is highly recommended . If you can't sit through whole 2 hr 40 min , but still want to watch it - fast forward till the last 30 minutes.
