Review of The Asphalt Jungle (1950) by Andy S — 10 Jun 2007
This is my all time favourite noir movie and for me it is John Hustons best. Wonderfully crafted and written with subdued but intense performances. For those of you who loved The Usual Suspects and Sin City this film is an absolute must.
Clearly Frank Miller used Sterling Hayden's character as a mould for his creation of Marv. Don't be threatened by the 1950 price tag as this film is really as good as it gets and you will be able to spot all its influences on more modern and less exciting films of the same genre.
