Review of The Asphalt Jungle (1950) by Mike H — 02 Sep 2011
Not sure exactly why I watched this film. It's not bad at all, but there are very few film noir movies that I enjoy. Perhaps I watched this because I knew Marilyn Monroe would be in it, although a small part, and I happen to be a fan of hers.
Anyway, there's not much wrong here it just happened to do absolutely nothing for me. The film is well shot and acted, but I didn't feel that involved. The film actually moves at a quick pace and at times I felt it was hard to keep up with all the characters being introduced.
However, once all the characters are introduced everything becomes clear and the film saves itself from being a total waste of time. I can certainly understand why this is considered one of the best of its genre, but I can't see myself watching this again anytime soon.
It has its fair share of cool moments that warrant a generous 3 star rating.
