Review of The Asphalt Jungle (1950) by Bill B — 26 Feb 2012
Continuing my Film Noir education, with more from John Huston, though this time around he has an even larger ensemble cast to work with, so you don't have any particular 'lead' to follow around. Pretty much all characters have their own little stories to involve you and it's rather deftly handled as they build up to the actual robbery and then the fallout that ensues when things begin to go South due to various complications.
Really a masterful film, filled with some particularly striking shots during the opening titles.
Recommended.
