Review of The Asphalt Jungle (1950) by Paul C — 20 Jan 2009
Seminal film noir from great director John Huston. The film oozes atmosphere and the performance are in the main pitch-perfect particularly Sterling Hayden, as the thug with a heart and a code of honour, and Sam Jaffe as the heist masterind Doc - it also features an early role for a really stunning Marilyn Monroe.
A film that influenced many to follow and many more yet to be made - Superb!
