Review of The Artist (2011) by Matt M — 05 Jan 2013
A strikingly beautiful silent film that seems purifying and refreshingly original among the hoards of big budget productions and an almost fetishistic overused gimmick like 3D. The Artist is a story of rise and fall full of hope that finds it incredibly easy to build a strong emotional connection with the viewer.
The glamorous photography reproduces the romantic idea of the old Hollywood while simultaneously updating and not only resurrecting a lost style of filmmaking.
