Review of The Artist (2011) by Johnny L — 03 Feb 2013
I came in thinking I was about to watch an art film, given the film's reputation and accolades (and heck, even its title). Surprisingly, "The Artist" isn't an art film, which made it easier for a simpleton like me to appreciate and enjoy it all, even if I missed the references and homages.
This work is a feel-good silent rom com and also a love letter to cinema, and a better one than Hugo in my opinion. The performances and the story were both great.
