Review of The Artist (2011) by Ray O — 15 Feb 2013
Wow! The mere idea of this film is just excellent: a silent film about the decline of silent film. Then when you add in it's brilliant delivery it just gets even better. It is pointless to talk about how it would hold up if it weren't a silent film.
It's not a gimmick, it's an homage, and it leads to a wonderful combination of older film techniques and newer film techniques. The visual style is incredible and the performances are top notch.
A wonderful film.
