Review of The Artist (2011) by Josè M — 24 Aug 2014
"Hugo" shows the artwork of the cinema, and "Super 8" is the revival/homage of the sci-fi classics. "The Artist" is pretty much of both to the black-and-white silent films at their troubling time about one "talkies" rebel want to stay silent in films and not talk, focusing on one course. Unfortunately, his fame went down. The film's focus on his story and journey shows darkness but supports from his dog and the film's romance.
A wonderful piece of art in film that revives the first world of film. Both visuals and the modern performances to that era were well done (especially the dog's). It may not deserves its predictable Best Picture title (the final "Harry Potter" is the true winner), but it was really good and, again, a good revival to the black-and-white silent films. (B+).
