Review of The Artist (2011) by Brent C — 17 Oct 2014
A black-and-white silent film coming out in the 21st century? This film was meant to be a love letter to such a film, and often the best way to portray what you're paying tribute to is to do exactly what you're paying tribute to.
The Artist is not only a wonderful tribute to silent films using modern-day filming techniques, but also brilliantly highlights the exciting transition from silent films to talkies that paved the way for many new stars, but also left many old ones in the dust.
Don't worry, it has a happy ending, and also one of the most loveable movie dogs you will ever see. 10/10.
