Review of The Artist (2011) by Daniel C — 26 Nov 2016
A silent movie star must cope with change when talking pictures become popular.
The Artist is a black and white and almost exclusively silent (aside from the soundtrack) movie, which is interesting considering when it was released. There's a number of well known actors and actresses involved as well.
It follows the story of George Valentin, a very popular silent movie actor, who meets Peppy Miller. As Peppy's career begins to take off, talking movies become all the rage and George has a hard time dealing with the fact that he might be about to become obsolete.
An enjoyable film with a simple story - The Artist definitely caters to a certain audience!
