Review of The Artist (2011) by Laila C — 25 Feb 2013
I think this movie out out a very strong message. in the fact that george only has one point of view on things. the idea of having sound in his life is diabolical, just because he is so obsessed with his work and caught up in it.
he does not speak throughout the whole entire film until the very end. although peppy is very different in such ways that she hasn't been in the movie business for long so she s open to flexibility in the idea of sound.
when the background music plays it has words in it . when george is just walking around or doing something the background music does not have any words in it because he is stuck in a soundless world. when george does finally hear ambiant sounds it is strange to him because the first sound he hears is a glass being set down on a table.
later on he hears a feather falling from a building and makes an explosion sound. that represents that sound can be powerful even if it is a small thing to hear. I loved it :).
