Review of The Artist (2011) by Cordero M — 27 Feb 2013
Easily the best silent film I have ever seen, The Artist is a masterpiece with it's use of sound as a story telling aspect and not just for score or ambience. As the plot thickens about this silent film actor who is incredibly reluctant to the technological advances of film, into sound.
As the actor is forced to slowly but surely come to terms with this new technology the silent film becomes less and less silent. WIth brief stints of ambient sound breaking through the silence he's created for himself The Artist must adapt or die.
