Review of The Artist (2011) by Matthew A — 13 Jan 2013
It took a year longer than it should have but I finally saw this with the lady friend. A triumphant return to the innocence and simplicity of early filmmaking, layered with lovingly humanized characters, tone-perfect humor, breathtaking black-and-white imagery, and some stunningly clever use of, fittingly enough, sound.
I loved every frame of this little gem. Oscar picked a good one last year. And as usual, I'll be there to see who he picks next.
