Review of The Art of the Steal (2010) by Hans J. E — 13 Jan 2011
Well, the movie suceeds in making you angry. And they definately make their case that the removal of the artwork is unnecessary and in extremely poor taste. I think the director watched Dear Zachary before he made this, because the pacing and sound design were very similar.
The documentary is kind of one-sided, which is not really the film-maker's fault. The "other side" declined to be interviewed most of the time. And I just read that after this movie came out the chairman of the Barnes Foundation published an article saying that it "lacked objectivity.
" Well, you can't decide not to talk to them and then complain when it doesn't tell your version of the story! God, what a crybaby.
