Review of The Art of Getting By (2011) by Tom P — 29 Aug 2012
George (Highmore) is a fascinating teenager. He doesn't seem to be able to complete his studies because, as said in his words, "what's the point?" However new friend Sally (Roberts) might be able to do something about it?
George is the sort of teen that doesn't see the point in doing homework, as other things such as art comes first; meaning homework is second nature to him. New friend and love interest Sally comes to help but could become even more of a distraction to George? The script only just captures the feeling between the two characters, but still provides comedy and laughter in parts, which leads you to not faulting the two leads.
For director, Gavin Wiesen, it provides a likeable debut best enjoyed by teens that can draw a comparison to the film itself.
