Review of The Art of Getting By (2011) by Ron R — 03 Oct 2012
I probably would've been all over this movie if I'd watched it when I was 13, but I couldn't get into it. The pace was extremely slow and boring, and the story was pretentious and convoluted.
The main character has no likable traits, he's just a privileged kid complaining about his life, attempting to find some direction. And the maniac pixie girl trope is so tired and cliched. No matter how much I like Freddie Highmore and Emma Roberts, I just couldn't like this story.
Very nice occasional shots of New York City tough.
