I can't praise this film enough.

An invigorating, inventive and deeply affecting docudrama.

What could have been a dated mess of lip-synching and 'play for today' rehashes in fact feels fresh and urgent whilst retaining it's 'britishness' and a respect for our filmmaking heritage.

A biography that transcends it's circumstance and speaks for people in poverty and crisis.

I have to add, the use of verbatim performance and reenactments staged in their original location, pushes and eclipses the need for fact and fiction boundaries.

It is this coalescent quality of documentary film that can access truths unavailable to separate fact or fiction accounts.

Vital.
