Review of The Apparition (2012) by Brett H — 15 Nov 2012
Already from the get go, I see that the characters are flat and the story not that intersting to begin with. Now I am not gonna touch on the acting because I belive that is the least of this films worries.
With the writing being as dull as it is, and the pacing to be ever so slow, it is no wonder people are giving this movie such a hard time. I can see why. Clearly the director was trying to give it a horror-esque vibe to it but it keeps falling flat due to its bad writing.
Ashley Greene and Tom Felton are wasted here as their characters have pretty much nothing to work with except to stay there and look pretty. One would think that a pretty formulaic haunted house story would just be able to give the audience some thrills but instead it just bores us due to it being too mundane as we have seen films like these before, and some just better made than what we have before us.
This film is not original which is to be expected but not even offering up the simplest of thrills really pulls the bar down for this movie.
