Review of The Apparition (2012) by Conni D — 18 Dec 2012
(1 Star) I wish I would have watched The Apparition with a friend... not because it's scary, but because it's so awful that it basically makes fun of itself. In one word, it's inept. I honestly don't think the filmmakers know how to scare the audience... unless household mold petrifies you, you're not going to find any of this terrifying. It's boring; painfully boring.
Horror films unfortunately have a "cheap" stigma to them; they're not taken as seriously as dramas. That's sad because it takes real talent to scare somebody else and mix it with haunting cinematography and direction, but there are a LOT of horror flicks that are flat like The Apparition. If you don't like the characters, then it's a comedy and you don't care what happens to them. If you don't care what happens to them, then you won't be scared. You won't like Kelly (Ashley Greene) and Ben (Sebastian Stan). You'll wonder why Tom Felton (from the Harry Potter series) isn't doing better movies. You will not be scared by The Apparition.
